Tips to identify a false website

It is quite common that you get tricked by the fake websites due to their appearances and the look-alike with the original site. Accessing such sites can lead to spyware, virus and other bugs entering into your system. Hence you need to be extremely careful while browsing the website. Here are some tips that can help you recognize a fake site.

• First method that always works is your instinct. If you feel something fishy about the site close it immediately.

Always go for the updated version of the web browser as they will have filters that can detect fake websites.

• The website address doesn’t match the one you typed. Sometimes it happens that you type in a legitimate site address and you end up in a fake site. This is also called pharming.

• Certain organization websites can be faking. To validate that check the address or phone number by making a call or send a mail to see if they really exist.

Never open links via emails sent to you by strangers .

• Some emails may contain links to other websites. To check the validity of the website, right click on the link and select properties which would give you the destination address.

• When certain websites require you to enter certain private information, check for the security of the page. Either the website address will start with “https:\\” or you will find a yellow padlock in the browser window.

• Try not to be deceived by the sites that promote profits through investments. Do your homework to see that you are heading in the right direction. Do your research and seek reviews and advices.

Never judge a website by its appearance. It is always easy to create flashy good looking websites if you one has good web designing knowledge.
